A business analyst is a professional who acts as a bridge between the company and the business stakeholders. Business analyst understands the requirements of clients and suggests procedures that help in improving the services of an organization. As a company grows with time, it has to incorporate specific changes depending on what the market needs. A business analyst would identify such changes, suggest implementations and understand the impact of such changes. They would also communicate the analysis and documentation requirements of the business, with the stakeholders. 

A business analyst can be categorized into two aspects:

1. IT Business Analyst - Acts as a vital link between business executives and IT staff. Translating business goals into IT requirements and communicating the requirements to IT.
2. Non-IT Business Analyst - This role is purely functional. They analyze the business need and does not require any technical skills, although it is always a good bonus.
